The stars of the show

Did you know pigs are incredibly social creatures with their own complex social structures? We currently care for 50 rescue pigs, each with a distinct personality! To ensure everyone at B.A.R.N.S. lives happily, we organize them into designated groups based on their temperament, age, and specific health requirements.

Special Needs

Ranging from hospice cases to special dietary restrictions our special needs group consists of the pigs that get daily medication, sunscreen application, extra goodies or salad only diets, and topical ointments.

Friendlys

Within our sanctuary, we have a wonderful group of friendly, well-behaved, and docile pigs. This diverse crew includes various ages and breeds—our playful Kunekune babies and relaxed Potbellies coexist happily, often found napping peacefully together under the shade of our large oak trees.

Rough and Rowdy

We also manage a separate, more assertive group of pigs. Despite being very friendly toward people, these individuals exhibit dominant social behaviors amongst themselves. They enjoy vying for attention and resources. We keep them separate from the docile pigs to ensure peace and safety for all residents.

Meishans+Sequoia

The lovely Meishans we care for descend from one of the oldest pig breeds in China. Our group of four brothers arrived in 2024 after being saved by a good samaritan in Georgia. He took the time to advocate for them, ensuring they found safe refuge and a forever home here at our sanctuary.

Meet Sequoia, our majestic matriarch here at B.A.R.N.S. She’s our biggest gal, tipping the scales at around 700 lbs! Hailing from a kingdom far, far away (or so we imagine), she enjoys the finer things in life: specifically, long, leisurely walks across the pasture and, perhaps, the occasional piña colada in the rain.

Twinkle

Meet Twinkle the cow. She’s 9 years young and surrendered by a close friend who no longer had the space to house Twinkle. She is over 1,000lbs after all.
Twinkle suffered from a difficult birthing delivery many years ago and this has negatively impacted her life significantly. Her hips are so damaged that she walks with severe pain in her legs, unable to bend her knees. Twinkles receives daily supplements and pain management to alleviate her discomfort. We are so happy to have her live the rest of her life on the Barns property.
